January -February 2010 Issue Emergencies (570) 857-9090
President's Column:
The EPOA Board of Directors held their reorganization meeting on January 2, 2010.
New members Bill Donnelly and Joe Gibbons were welcomed to the Board. The
officers for the year were elected and are listed in the newsletter.
The Board wishes to thank outgoing Board Members Lillian Hehn and Jeffery
Kirpatrick for their dedication and service to the EPOA.
We have received some updated information on the Equalization Tank from KBA our
engineering firm. Following some adjustments to the plans, we should soon be able
to seek quotes for this project. We are still hoping to start construction in the spring.
The Board is currently seeking bids for applying tar and chips to our roads. Whether
we are able to do all the roads or just the main roads will depend on the cost.
The EPOA By-Laws are being reviewed for necessary revisions. All property owners
should have a copy of the By-Laws and I would ask you to review them and submit
any suggestions for changes in writing to the EPOA Office for consideration. When
completed, the revised By-Laws will be mailed out for a vote by all property owners.
The next scheduled Board Meeting will be on Saturday, March 13th at 10:00 in the
Marina Building, weather permitting. It would be nice to see more of the property
owners at the meetings. Remember this is your Association. Get Involved.
Robert Brennan, President
Vacancy - Board Member:
Anyone interested in filling a vacancy on the Board of Directors should submit their
name in writing to the EPOA President in care of the EPOA Office by February 29,
2010. The position is from the date of appointment to January 1, 2011. The person
appointed may run for the remaining unexpired term at the next election.
Manager's Column:
So far this winter has left us wondering what's next? The one good thing coming out
of this is the monies that are being saved for 2010 from the plowing and cindering of
course we never know what the next two months will bring. The Board of Directors
and myself are always looking at different ways to save. The ditches and the
roadsides were done and I believe that everyone can notice the difference that it
makes getting the water off of the roads. There are still those property owners who
have not cleared their culvert pipes of debris and this must be done in order to keep
the water flowing smoothly and not backing up on the roads.
The schedule for the swimming pools has not yet been decided. Last year the pools
were closed for two days out of the week and this saved us money because we only
had to hire four lifeguards instead of the usual six. This may be the way to go again
this year.
Many owners do seem to be taking care of their water lines when they are not here,
though there are still those that do not. We have been out looking for leaks the past
couple of weeks. These leaks were on the Long Court System. We were not sure if
the high readings were caused by the one downed pressure pump or a leak A new
pressure pump has been ordered and a large leak has been found in the home of a
property owner on this system. The readings have now gone down, closer to normal.
The sewage system has had some repairs done. We always have the daily
maintenance but a new timer was installed and some new grating over the sand
filtration.
The office has been keeping busy. The 2010 vehicle stickers are in. In order to
receive a sticker for your vehicle you must supply a copy of your current registration
and show your current insurance. Only registered tenants will receive a sticker. A
property owner can obtain a family sticker for a $5.00 cost, these stickers shall be
used for immediate family only, in order to obtain a sticker for your golf cart a copy
of your current insurance must be in the office. UTVs and ATVs must provide a copy
of current insurance as well as current registration.
Have a healthy winter season. Luana

Laughter Corner:
During a baseball game, the coach asked one of his young players, "Do you
understand what cooperation is? What a team is?" The boy nodded. "Do you
understand that what matters is whether we win together as a team?" The boy
nodded. "So, the coach continued, "when a strike is called, or you're out at first, you
don't argue or curse or attack the umpire. Do you understand all that?" Again the
boy nodded. "Good. Now go over there and explain it to your father."
A man joins a monastery and takes a vow of silence. He's permitted to speak only
two words every seven years. After seven years, the elders bring him in and ask for
his two words. "Cold floors," he says. Seven more years pass. They bring him back
in and ask for his two words. "Bad food," he says. Seven more years pass. They
bring him in for his two words. "I quit," he says. "That's not surprising," the elders
say. "You've done nothing but complain since you got here."
